Planets
Planets are large discs of floating material. From far away they seem like multi-coloured backdrops, but you can travel to them. Be advised, it can take a while and you may run into some pirates en-route.
Planets generate as disks instead of spheres to simplify gravity physics and terrain generation. Planets have minerals that can be mined and sold in the shop .
There are several types of planets, including ice planets, desert planets, mars like planets, purple "alien worlds", and earth like planets with trees and grass. It is wise to collect cactus, wood and grass because they can sell for a good amount: as much as Lv3 materials in some cases.

Landing
It is highly recommended to fly above the planet's sphere of gravity and take a dropship down. You can do this by docking a smaller ship to your main ship, then exiting the main one and going into the smaller one. Then un-dock the smaller ship and fly it down to the planet. But why? This is because it can be very hard to take off again in a heavy ship, therefore you should take a very light and basic ship down.
Types of Planets
Several different types of planets exist in StarMade.

An icey and cold world. Deep incisions and crevices litter the surface. Ice Crystals can be found lighting the caves within the canyons and caves underground, and you can probably find some just by shooting a few rockets at the planet. Also, each ice planet surface piece sells for 1,000 Credits.
